We are constantly looking to improve
We aim to keep this section updated on a regular basis and this will give you a flavour of how we are constantly seeking to develop and improve. Overall
When we acquired the nurseries occupancy overall was less than 20% of their capacity and it is now over 50% in a year. This is an accolade to the whole team who have committed time, energy, finances and hard work.
The reputations of the nurseries have grown enormously and we continue to believe we can combine all of the ingredients to make sure Child First Nurseries will stand as a beacon to others who really want to improve childcare.
Aylesbury
We are almost full until the Autumn – as our reputation as a focal point for the local community gains momentum more and more people are booking their children in for more and more sessions.
Having changed the inside of the building substantially over the last year with the moving of the baby area and the removal of many of the walls, we are now looking to develop the outside and plans are currently being prepared to give all the children immediate access to the outside.
Banbury
As the first of our two listed buildings, Banbury gives us a great challenge. Over the first year we have concentrated on the major issues – moving kitchens from a cupboard to a place where children can cook and eat in comfort – relocating babies from a room with limited access to a much larger environment – downsizing the registration from over 100 to 75 and reallocating space – and making much better use of the garden by improving and reorganising.
We have now moved on to phase 2 and are looking to really maximise the outdoor space further by introducing a roof terrace. This will give all children access to outside space directly from their areas an enable them to go out at a moments notice.
Bicester
The nursery has been reequipped and reorganised to give a much more focused and open feeling to the whole building – age appropriate and flexible.
Again we are now looking to bring the indoors out and releasing some of the ‘car park’ back to children – particularly the babies.
Northampton
The nursery at Moulton is our second listed building in a superb 3 acre woodland garden which is now extensively used for growing, learning, building, cooking, exploring and a whole lot more. Improvements have included the relocation of the kitchen to bring it downstairs and become an eating and working space for the children who are increasingly involved with the growing and preparation of their own meals, and the introduction of our natures nursery – where the use of our forest areas allow children exceptional opportunities to learn and explore with the support of our skilled practitioners.
Solihull
The College at Kingshurst built the nursery in the early 2000’s and almost created a purpose built nursery with real potential. What it needed was softening to cater for 12 month olds, not 12 year olds, and this needed a creative and capable team.
And that’s what has been created, a local team with real commitment, now matched with real understanding, who have created a really caring environment indoors and are now creating a superb outdoor setting; from the chef growing with the children through to butterfly sanctuaries. Child First in Solihull is an Oasis of positive activity.
